The CoCo Paul, Not Your Typical LP Style Guitar ..

The coCo Paul is a LP style guitar made by Convolution Instruments. This guitar is a requested custom job. The idea was to make an extraordinary LP style guitar with no plastics and with some extra sound features. The  body is made of mahogany with a spalted maple top and ebony bindings. Neck is made of mirrored mahogany, with, in the middle of the heel a piece of wenge. Top of the headstock is rosewood. Fingerboard is ebony. The inlay is abalone. Pickguard is also made of ebony as well as the plates on the back. The truss rod is adjustable on the body side. Harder to adjust, but stronger for the stability and strength of the headstock. The scale length is 24.75 which is typical for a LP style guitar. The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Trembucker, and a DiMarzio PAF in the neck position. Both pickups can be switched from series to parallel mode by 2 pushpull potmeters.

The sound goes from a very clear high end sound to a muddy warm sound in various stages. The parallel switching is a welcome addition to the typical LP style guitar sound.

Convolution Instruments by Edwin Paanakker and Frans Haarmeijer. Their main product is the Convolution Bass, a solid body bass which sounds like an upright bass using Convolution Technique. But they also take on custom jobs like CoCo Paul.
