Carbon-Fiber Reinforcing Rods Add Strength & Stability to All Custom Shop Guitar & Bass Necks. The neck of your instrument is arguably the most important component when it comes to playability, and Kiesel Guitars and Carvin Guitars Custom Shop guitars and basses have the strongest, most stable necks you can get! The Custom Shop pays a great deal of attention and care to our guitar and bass necks so that you don't have to.

To start with, we utilize a lengthy conditioning process on all our neck and fingerboard woods in our state-of-the-art de-humidification chambers. This process removes any stress in the wood, which helps prevent future warping or twisting. This is a time-consuming process, but helps insure you'll have a trouble-free neck for years to come. Most of our guitars and basses use the highest quality, hand-selected Eastern hard rock maple for the neck; while other models, such as our popular California Carved Top models, use premium hand-selected mahogany.

New! Chambered Body Option on CT-Series Carved Top Guitars.

The Kiesel Guitars/Carvin Guitars Custom Shop has added our chambered body option (CMB) to our popular CT624 and CT7 California Carved Top electric guitars. Cosmetically, there's no difference in versions with CMB and without, because the chambering is concealed under the top wood. However, chambering the body can reduce the overall weight of an instrument by as much as a half-pound. While that may not sound like much, you'll be able to tell the difference after a few hours on stage or in rehearsal.

NEW! Icon 2.0 Electric Basses

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Carvin Guitars' popular Icon Series 4, 5 and 6 string basses, these models have been updated with new features and electronics to further improve upon their already exceptional tone and playability. The contemporary, ergonomic shape of the Icon has been improved with a deeper body cutaway for improved comfort, a chambered body option has been added to reduce weight, and the headstock now is a 3-piece design just like the body (the main neck wood, the matching exotic wood overlay, and a thin black layer in the middle), with a metallic gold Kiesel logo standard. A 4A flamed maple top with matching headstock is standard, and other exotic top woods are available, including 4A quilted maple, California Claro walnut, burled maple, and newly-added zebrawood and purpleheart. Dual carbon fiber reinforcing rods and a two way fully adjustable truss rod make the neck incredibly stable. New electronics consist of plain enamel wire radiused humbuckers (as on the Vanquish), with a split-coil neck pickup optional, as well as optional single-coil radiused pickups available. The pickups have also been re-positioned slightly, in a more tone-enhancing "sweet spot". The new curved control layout is more modern, and our new 18V active/passive electronics provide all the tone any bassist could want. The new Icon Series basses have excellent playability and premium features usually reserved for boutique instruments, and because we sell direct to you, you can design a fully-custom USA-made bass at a price that can't be beat.
